Open Access Resources

FutureLearn

FutureLearn includes courses from international institutions on many topics, not only health care.  They are moderated live, so conversations between tutors and other students can develop.  (This means that not all courses are accessible at the same time – you register interest and will be emailed when the course begins.  If you don’t finish the sessions in the ‘live’ period the module will continue to be accessible and can be completed, though the tutor support may not be available.)  Simple self-registration on the site.  Indication of time needed to complete is given.

OpenLearn

OpenLearn from the Open University provides free open access modules which can be joined at any time, though less closely moderated than the FutureLearn modules.  Many of them could be used as ‘tasters’ for formal OU study. Modules categorised as introductory, intermediate or advanced, expected study time given.

Macmillan Learn Zone

This LearnZone provides free learning resources, online courses and professional development tools from Macmillan Cancer Support.
