Cardiac Rehabilitation at West Middlesex Hospital
What is cardiac rehabilitation?
Cardiac Rehabilitation offers you and your family information, support and advice to help get you back on your feet again. It includes exercise and information about healthy lifestyles that helps you to get back to everyday life as quickly as possible. It aims to help you:
Understand your condition
Recover from your surgery or heart attack
Make changes to your lifestyle that will help to improve your heart health
Reduce the risk of a heart attack
Empower you to take responsibility for your health
Who is it for?
Cardiac rehabilitation is available at local leisure centres/hospitals/rehab units around Hounslow and Richmond for anyone who has had:
Cardiac rehabilitation programmes can also help people who have coronary heart disease, including those with angina.
What does the cardiac rehab program comprise of?
Phase 1- This phase takes place while you you are in the hospital. It includes information in the form of written and visual aids.
Phase 2 - after you are discharged from hospital
The community Cardiac Rehabilitation team will contact you either by telephone or letter. Find more information about Hounslow Cardiac rehabilitation programme and Richmond cardiac rehabilitation programme
You will also be invited to attend two clinics:
1.The Post Invasive follow up clinic: (Lead Specialist Nurse Cardiology) This will be your first visit, you will have an assessment and symptoms and medicines will be discussed. Investigations may be ordered and further review may be necessary. Staff from the hospital library may visit you when you have your out patient appointment at the hospital to support your health information needs.
2.The Heart Health Clinic: (Cardiac Physiotherapist and Dietician) You will receive information and advice on heart-healthy lifestyle and guidance tailored to your specific needs.
Phase 3 - (optional exercise classes) The Physiotherapist may discuss these with you at the heart health clinic, if you are well enough you will be offered a place.

Tues: 1:30pm – 2:30pm at Feltham Assembly Hall
Tues: 3pm – 4pm at Feltham Assembly Hall
Thursday: 1:30pm – 2:30pm at Isleworth Leisure Centre
Thursday: 3pm – 4pm at Isleworth Leisure Centre
Mon: 10am – 11am at Teddington Memorial Hospital
Mon: 3:15pm – 4:15pm at Richmond Rehab Unit
Wed: 9:15am – 10:15am at Teddington Memorial Hospital
Wed: 11am – 12:00am at Teddington Memorial Hospital
Fri: 2pm – 3pm at Richmond Rehab Unit

This is situated in the atrium opposite the main reception desk and is staffed every Tuesday and Wednesday by volunteers with free advice and literature available
