Book Collection

The Library book stock aims to reflect the interests of all readers.   The library catalogue is available on all terminals within the library and can be searched at:

The Library welcomes suggestions for new books to be purchased.  Please not that this recommendations may need to be put forward to the Library Committee for approval.

Borrowing: Most books can be borrowed by registered members. The loan period is 7, 14 and 28 days.

Renewing:  Books can be renewed either in person, by telephone or email, provided that they have not been reserved by another reader. There is a limit on number of renewals.

Reservations: To reserve a book currently on loan please ask at the library counter. 

* Please note in order to borrow books a refundable deposit of £20 is required for students and staff on a contract of less than one year.


The library audio-visual collection contains of videos, DVD and CD-ROM’s. Videos and DVDs  can be viewed in the library or can be borrowed on an overnight loan basis.

Accessing Articles
Articles from journals marked in green are freely available or available in print in the library, or are available by using your NHS Athens account. You may need to click on 'Log in with Athens' to get an Athens login box.

If you don't have an NHS Athens account, you can register online, and if you do this on an NHS PC, you'll receive a confirmation email the same day.

Journals marked in orange aren't available online, but we hold print copies in the Library.

Journals marked in red aren't available online or in the Library but we can order articles  via our Inter Library Loan Service. There is a small charge for this. Please contact the library on ext 5968 or email  for more information.
