Voluntary Organisations and Local Support Groups around Hounslow
There are a number of local organisations that provide valuable support to patients and relatives after a visit to hospital.
The following organisations are either based at, or have regular staffed information stands at, the hospital:
The Mulberry Centre

Located within the hospital grounds and open to all those affected by the diagnosis of cancer - patients of all ages, their families, carers and friends - The Mulberry Centre offers access to information, advice and support within a non-clinical and welcoming environment.
The Mulberry Centre takes a holistic view of cancer care and focuses on living with cancer, helping to alleviate any unnecessary concerns connected with diagnosis.
The centre offers:
· A
well-stocked information library
· Macmillan Cancer Information officer
· Complementary therapies - aromatherapy, reflexology
· Counselling and support groups
· Welfare rights and money advice
· A warm and welcoming non-clinical environment with knowledgeable and
experienced staff and volunteers

The information desk is situated in the atrium opposite the main reception desk and is staffed every Tuesday and Wednesday by volunteers with free advice and literature available.
Diabetes UK - Information desk at West Middlesex Hospital

Hounslow Stroke Prevention Support Group- Information desk at West Middlesex Hospital
The information desk is situated in the atrium opposite the main reception desk, and is staffed every Tuesday and Wednesday by volunteers with free advice and literature available.
The Hounslow NHS Stop Smoking Service is based at West Middlesex Hospital and offers help, support and medication to anyone who wishes to stop smoking. The Drop-In Clinic at West Middlesex Hospital runs every Wednesday between 4.45pm and 5.45pm in Outpatient Department 2 - Chest Clinic.

The Home from Hospital Support Scheme provides short-term support to patients over 60 for personal care and shopping. Contact: 020 8560 6969.
Alzheimer's Disease Society - Hounslow Branch
Provides help for people looking after someone with Dementia. Includes a helpline, individual support and a monthly carer support group. Contact Sally Glover on 020 8580 1057.
Crossroads Outreach Support - Brentford
Provides information, advice and support to carers in Brentford. Contact Jill Hutson 020 8568 2022.
Disability Network - Hounslow
This network helps all patients and relatives with any disability needs. Contact Mike Jones on 020 8758 2048.

Middlesex Association for the Blind
Advice and information to visually impaired people living within Hounslow Borough including a voluntary home visit service to assist blind people with
Radio West Middlesex is the volunteer-run hospital radio station of the West Middlesex University Hospital in Isleworth, Middlesex. The main aim is to entertain and cheer patients during their stay in hospital through a variety of programmes and to keep them in touch with what's happening in the world outside.
West Middlesex Hospital Breast Care Unit
The main aim is to provide relevant information about various aspects of diagnosis and treatment of breast diseases.
Multi Language community site supports citizenship through the delivery of culturally appropriate and accurately translated information in the following areas of welfare law — debt, employment, health, housing, immigration and welfare benefits. We are currently translating material in: Albanian, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, Farsi, French, Gujerati, Somali, Spanish and Turkish etc.
Hounslow Care: health and social care information for older and disabled people living in Hounslow.
So SAFE is a community based project for young people. Its aim is to target the hardest to reach young persons in the Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth (BCI) area, aged 8-21 years, with advice, support and improved access to health information.
